โœ About this tool

The Annual Income Calculator converts pay quoted hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or yearly into one comparable number: how much you earn in a full year. Job offers rarely use the same unit โ€” one employer quotes a monthly salary, another an annual package, a third pays by the hour with an irregular schedule. This tool puts them all on the same footing, and unlike a simple "monthly ร— 12" estimate, it also accounts for the days you work each week, the hours you work each day, and the weeks you actually work each year. That makes the yearly figure, the monthly average and the effective hourly rate closer to reality.

Annual income calculation and financial planning
When to use it

1. Comparing job offers: one offer is monthly, another annual, a third is hourly with weekend shifts. Convert each to a yearly total and compare it against the real schedule to see which one actually pays more.
2. Freelance and part-time pricing: start from a target annual income, divide it by the hours you are willing to work, and you have the minimum hourly rate you should quote.
3. Overtime and side income: put bonuses, overtime pay or side gig income into "extra annual income" and see how much they really add over twelve months.
4. Budgeting and loan applications: lenders and landlords usually ask for monthly income. Enter your actual schedule to get a realistic monthly average instead of a rough guess.
5. Negotiating a raise: turning a raise into an hourly figure shows whether the extra money compensates for longer hours and a longer commute.

How it works

The calculator first converts whatever figure you enter into an effective hourly rate, then builds every other period from that rate. The bridge between the two is your schedule: days per week ร— hours per day gives hours per week, and hours per week ร— weeks per year gives total hours per year. Annual salary is the hourly rate multiplied by total hours per year. Weekly and daily income use the same rate with the corresponding hours. Extra annual income โ€” a year-end bonus, a 13th salary, rental income, dividends โ€” does not affect the hourly rate; it is added only at the end so the wage comparison stays clean while the total still reflects everything you receive. Results are rounded to two decimal places.

Things to keep in mind

First, every number here is gross income, before income tax, social security, pension contributions and other payroll deductions; your take-home pay will be lower. Second, be conservative with variable income such as commissions, bonuses and stock grants โ€” an optimistic estimate makes the whole calculation misleading. Third, the default of 52 working weeks assumes paid holidays and paid vacation. If you take significant unpaid leave, lower the number of weeks. Fourth, if you are paid overtime at 1.5ร— or 2ร—, estimate that extra money separately and add it as extra income rather than inflating your weekly hours, which would distort the hourly rate. Fifth, schedules with six-day weeks or long daily hours produce a much lower effective hourly rate than a standard 40-hour week โ€” adjust the sliders to your real schedule before comparing offers.

FAQ

Q: Why not just multiply my monthly salary by 12?
A: That gives your annual salary, but it hides how much time it costs. This tool also reports the effective hourly and daily rate based on your actual schedule, which is what you need when comparing jobs with different hours.
Q: Should I use 52 weeks or fewer?
A: Use 52 if your vacation and public holidays are paid. If you have unpaid time off, reduce the number so the annual figure matches what you will really receive.
Q: Why is my hourly rate lower than expected?
A: Commuting, unpaid overtime and being on call are usually not counted as working time. Raise the days or hours sliders to see how quickly the hourly rate falls โ€” a useful reality check on any offer.
Q: Does extra income change the hourly rate?
A: No. The hourly, daily and weekly figures use salary only. Extra income is added to the annual total and monthly average, so a one-off bonus is not spread across every hour you work.
Q: Can I use a currency other than dollars?
A: Yes. The dollar sign is only a label; the math is identical for euros, pounds, yuan or any other currency.
